Jennifer Coppen is an actress, singer, and one of Indonesia’s most influential social media personalities today. Her daughter, Kamari, has become something of a national sweetheart—a beloved little star adored as both the nation’s daughter and granddaughter. Jennifer’s partner, Justin Hubner, is equally celebrated. The Dutch-born footballer and member of Indonesia’s national team commands a following of more than four million, making the couple one of the country’s most closely watched families. When we first heard that they were considering Glass House for their Javanese wedding ceremony, I must admit that, as a foreigner, I had little understanding of who they were or the extraordinary level of attention surrounding them. What resonated with me instead was a more personal connection. The person who introduced Jennifer to Glass House was India, who would later serve as one of her bridesmaids. Back in 2019, shortly after Glass House was completed, India had modeled for one of our earliest shoots. At the time, she was still a teenager, and seeing her graceful transformation over the years was a poignant reminder of how quickly time passes. Jennifer fell in love with Glass House at first sight. Its modern architecture—a composition of glass and chic black stone—creates a cool, minimalist frame for the lush vitality of the tropics. Through its transparent walls and doors, Bali’s vibrant landscape becomes part of the design itself, seamlessly blending architecture and nature. From the very beginning, the vision was clear: to honor the beauty of traditional Javanese rituals while celebrating the craftsmanship that is deeply woven into Indonesian and Balinese ceremonial culture. Intricate handcrafted elements made from coconut husk—a material synonymous with local festivities—were incorporated throughout the design. Jennifer also expressed her admiration for the modern reinterpretations of Indonesian craftsmanship seen in some of the country’s most talked-about celebrity weddings. The result, however, needed to be uniquely hers. Her palette of choice centered on lush greens softened with delicate touches of blush pink and white. After countless brainstorming sessions, sketches, and mock-ups, our team arrived at a simple conclusion. Our role was not merely to decorate a venue, but to create the ultimate backdrop for Jennifer, Justin, beloved Kamari, and their closest family and friends—a stage upon which tradition, beauty, emotion, and celebration could unfold. We envisioned a setting that would come alive through every element of the experience: laughter and tears, the gentle resonance of gamelan music, the rustle of ceremonial attire, the movement of leaves in the breeze, sunlight filtering through tropical trees, and the intoxicating fragrance of jasmine. The stage itself would only truly shine once it embraced all of these fleeting moments. For the ceremony, soft-toned macramé fringes were enveloped in cascading layers of pine leaves, papyrus, moss, stipa grass, and verdant hydrangeas, creating a rich gradient of tropical greens. Roses, calla lilies, fragrant tuberose, and jasmine filled the air with their perfume, while sculptural coconut-husk installations added texture and character. Together, these elements seemed to dissolve effortlessly into the surrounding paradise, intertwining with Bali’s vivid landscape. The reception took place in the Plumeria Room, a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling glass pavilion. At its center, a monumental circular installation was dressed in clouds of baby’s breath, softly diffusing the golden afternoon light. Flowing garlands of amaranthus added movement and drama, while fringed details suspended above the dining tables shimmered like cascading beams of light, reflecting the sparkle of crystal chandeliers overhead. The tablescape was dressed in elegant olive tones, layered with subtle green nuances. Orchids, roses, and calla lilies added restrained touches of tropical color, creating a composition that felt both sophisticated and effortlessly organic. The day itself was, at times, unlike anything we had ever experienced. Television crews, extensive photo and video teams, content creators, VIP guests, and their entourages transformed the celebration into a whirlwind of activity. Yet beyond the inevitable chaos, what remains most vivid in our memory is the extraordinary joy of witnessing a moment that illuminated everyone present. Jennifer and Justin radiated happiness, and that happiness seemed to ripple through the entire gathering. Looking back, our team feels profoundly grateful to have played a part in such a meaningful celebration—one that beautifully united family, tradition, craftsmanship, and love beneath the tropical light of Bali.
